Coraline was released 6th Feb, 2009, a stop motion film based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 novel, directed by Henry Selick, who had previously directed The Nightmare Before Christmas– often wrongly attributed to Tim Burton, Selick has his own unique style, as shown in the aforementioned and also Roald Dahl’s ‘James and the Giant Peach’, ‘Monkeybone’, and adding animation elements to Wes Anderson’s ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’- Anderson going on to produce his own stop motion feature, alos based on a Dahl tale, ‘The Fantastic Mr Fox’ which Selick was co-working on before leaving to work on Coraline.


Coraline was nominated for a Best Animated Feature.
